Your Checklist for Team Building Success
When it comes to preparing your employees for a day of team building, there’s no such thing as being over prepared. Follow these tips to make your event a great success so everyone wins!
Get Feedback
Team building events are designed to bring your employees closer and get them working better together. So who knows what needs to be addressed more than your employees? Send out questionnaire to obtain team building ideas.Use an online survey tool such as SurveyMonkey, TypeForm or GoogleForms where responses are anonymous and members can be completely honest. Send out the questionnaire to both management and non-management employees. Once the results are in, review the results with your team building facilitator.
Start Planning Early
Once you know what your team needs help with, start planning the event. Where will it be held? What is your budget? How many employees will participate? Work with your team facilitator to set a date. Let employees know where the event will take place and what team building activities they will be participating in. The more prepared your team members are, the better the event will go.
Make Sure Your Facilitator Is Prepared
You never know what can go awry. Ask your facilitator to bring backup props and have backup activities in the wings. It may be beneficial to plan for a backup venue if your event is being held outside and the weather turns bad. The better prepared you are, the smoother the day will go.
Hire A Facilitator that is Flexible
Anything that can happen, will happen. Being flexible with your team and allowing them time to work through their differences and problems will help. If employees get off track, go with it for a little bit. It may lead to discoveries that better help them. Hire someone that doesn’t rush your employees through the events- it will stress them out and all success for the day could be lost.
